Murwillumbah Country Roots Festival

Murwillumbah is a thriving country town in northern NSW Australia smack bang in between Byron Bay and The Gold Coast. 35 minutes south of Gold Coast Airport and 35 minutes north of Byron Bay

Murwillumbah is a natural wonderland, and traditional Bundjgalung land.; It has the majestic Tweed River running through it and is guarded by a world heritage backdrop with lush rainforests, creeks and waterfalls and world class beaches 20 minutes away! Wollumbin (Mt. Warning) towers over the town that is now made up of sugarcane farmers, country born families and city folk who have moved up here to live what is now a cosmopolitan country lifestyle.

With Byron Bay and Nimbin as neighbouring towns, our festival is going to offer music and culture a little left of the traditional country music festivals. We will of course be showcasing Australia’s favourite country music artists, as well as Australia’s finest Roots artists. And a strong local music presence because we are so lucky to have such talented artists here!!

We believe Country music and Roots music have a common connection. That is the love of the land and music that comes from its roots and that come from the soul.

To go with our diverse region, we will have food and market stalls that reflect. We are very lucky here to have one of the healthiest and Greenest environments in the country, so our food will be spectacular and our waste management and recycling standards will be high!

The festival will be held over 4 days at the Murwillumbah Show Grounds with over 60 acts. Festival Friday evening will be the festival opening night, where we will be featuring a welcoming ceremony by Kids Caring For Country as well as local talent and major Australian acts.  Festival Saturday, Sunday and Monday will be held in the Murwillumbah Showgrounds where there will be 4 fantastic stages!!! There will be the main stage – the Wollumbin Stage in the show arena, the Men’s Shed Stage for all the fun stomping music ( of course it is for women too), the Opry stage that will feature Bluegrass and awesome old timey music and the Porch stage that will feature our more Rootsy artists and choice buskers.

There will be camping onsite starting at $7.50 per person for up to 5 nights and must be booked before the event so get in quick to avoid missing out!

To sum up for now…we are creating a world class festival right here in Murwillumbah and we want you to come! We guarantee that you won’t be disappointed and you will want to come back to this gorgeous colourful region and spectacular music!!

Please keep checking. http://www.mcrfest.com/

See you at the festival!!!!
